Our Story
Origins of New Hope Urbandale
New Hope Assembly was founded by Pastor James Weaver and his wife, Susan. Pastor Weaver had been asked by the Iowa District of the Assemblies of God to start a church in Urbandale; the former Bethesda Temple became the site of the new church. A core group of 17 individuals from Berean Assembly of God in Pleasant Hill (our mother church) launched New Hope on Sunday, October 7, 1990.
The Growth of New Hope
Over the years God has blessed the New Hope community, causing it to grow into a thriving, vibrant church body. Thanks to the faithful giving of resources by members of New Hope, a new 900-seat sanctuary was completed in 2013, and the original 40 by 80-foot church building is now a dedicated Student Campus. This growth has allowed New Hope to make a significant impact not only in the Urbandale community, but in global ministry through missions giving. The more we grow, the more we are able to give generously.
