Serve | Helping Others
Volunteering isn’t just about serving others. When you volunteer, you will find that serving others is one of the best ways to grow in your relationship with God. We encourage you to find your place – the area of your gifting or the thing that gets you excited to serve – then, get involved and make a difference!
The list of volunteer opportunities listed on the following pages is by no means exhaustive. At New Hope we are not just about operating programs. All of these ministries have come about because God placed a burden or passion in someone’s heart to meet a need. New ministries will rise up as people are led by God’s Spirit see a need and do something significant.
Below are particular areas of need during the Fall quarter:
Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered, 12-step recovery program for anyone struggling with hurt, pain or addiction of any kind. This program serves adults from all over the DSM area every Tuesday. We have several volunteer needs in this ministry. See our Celebrate Recovery page for details.
Backpack Buddies, Urbandale School District
We are looking for 2 volunteers to pick up 44 boxes from the Food Bank of Iowa on the 2nd Thursday of each month during the school year, and deliver them to five elementary schools in Urbandale. It would be ideal for the volunteers to have a suitable vehicle for transportation. These boxes are heavy so it is a physically demanding job. This ministry helps provide food on the weekends for students who are food insecure. Contact email@example.com if you are interested.
